Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Camera 2nd best camera in the world according to DXOMARK

 

DXOMARK has published the camera benchmark scores for the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. Despite being packed with improvements and enhanced optical features, the Android 14-powered phone came in second in the test. The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra remains at number 1 on the list.

According to the details, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL scored 158 points and achieved second place in the DXOMARK world smartphone ranking for the main camera.

Speaking of scores, the Pixel 9 Pro XL scored 161 points for photo, 75 for bokeh, 86 for preview, 155 points for zoom, and 152 for video recording.

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, meanwhile, won the crown of camera beast with 163 points. Featuring a retractable lens, XD Motion Engine, and an incredible portrait sensor, the device delivers high-end image quality with beautiful, natural effects.


The Pixel 9 Pro XL delivers good exposure and highlights in a variety of scenarios. It has a neutral white balance and produces vibrant colors. The device offers fast and reliable autofocus benefits, such as field-of-view correction in video mode when the focus target changes.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL image results show effective textures and reduced noise in bright highlights with finer details. Zoom and macro shots are also quite impressive, with a better on-screen preview image when close to capture. Google also worked on video stabilization and artifacts in still and moving shots

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL: Cons

  • Dynamic range instabilities in consecutive shots, slight exposure in the video.
  • Underexposure is a slightly inaccurate color reproduction and color noise in very low light.
  • Occasional blending artifacts on mid-range tele settings.
  • Depth estimation artifacts in bokeh mode
  • Sharpness differences between video frames when walking while recording, especially indoors or in low light.

According to official listings, the  Google Pixel 9 Pro XL  features a triple camera setup. The setup includes a 50MP wide-angle primary shooter with a 1/1.31-inch sensor (f/1.7), a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens (f/1.7), and a 48MP periscope sensor (f/2.8 aperture).

These lenses support Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS, 5x optical zoom, Multi-area laser AF, LED flash, pixel shift, Ultra-HDR, panorama, Better Shot and zoom enhancement.
