Huawei is working on a new folding device with triple screen
The foldable mobile phone segment continues to generate great interest, with giants like Samsung leading the market .
Huawei prepares a revolution for foldables
These mobile devices come in two main formats: the clamshell format, which folds vertically and generally opens from top to bottom, as is the case with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and the Motorola Razr 40 ; and the book format, which folds horizontally, like the Galaxy Z Fold and the Honor Magic V2 do.
Considering this evolution, some brands such as Huawei are exploring new models of folding devices, in addition to introducing improvements in software and screen . Huawei has reportedly been working on a triple-folding screen smartphone , equipped with two hinges, for some time, which could debut in the second quarter of 2024.
This device is in the development phase and is emerging as a pioneer in the foldable phone market , raising innovation to a higher level for Huawei users. This new model is expected to be more similar in size and functionality to tablets.
Different aspect ratio than established
The long-awaited launch of Huawei's triple-folding mobile phone is scheduled for the second quarter of this year. The design of this device is undoubtedly the most intriguing aspect of the project, with hints of an S or Z shape.
At the moment, it is speculated that the size of the screen once folded would be similar to that of a standard smartphone, around 6.4 inches , but rumors suggest the possibility of a 28:9 or 18:9 aspect ratio , which would allow a fold in a 4:3 layout.
However, as reported by Trendforce , the design of the mobile will not necessarily be limited to those types, since the possibility of adopting a G shape is also contemplated. This would imply that both hinges fold inward.
Foldables have not yet conquered the market
Even though the foldable device market has yet to fully capture users' attention, according to TrendForce data, the volume of foldable device shipments still falls short of expectations, with only 15.7 million units shipped , without exceeding the 16 million mark.
However, Huawei is determined to innovate in screens and is betting heavily on it. The production phase of this device is already underway , with testing of ultra-thin flexible glass components and displays underway.
If everything progresses as planned and there are no strategic or manufacturing setbacks on the part of Huawei, it is expected that the year 2024 will conclude with the launch of this innovation to the market.
